Cleaning and Maintenance:
  • Once the floor has been installed, vacuum or use a dust mop to clear the floor of any loose dirt or residual dust or debris. The floor can be wiped with neutral pH cleaners specifically for wood floors or plain water.
  • Do not use a vacuum cleaner with a beater bar as this can cause scratches on the floor.
  • Do not use hard bottomed electric brooms without padding as they can scratch the floor.
  • Walk off mats with non-staining floor protectors underneath should be used in entrances to help prevent dirt from being carried onto the floor.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaning tools such as steel wool or any type of scouring powder.
  • Please use a thoroughly-wrung out damp mop. We do not recommend using any type of steam cleaners on our floors. The concern with these types of cleaners is that they generate too much moisture and heat. If any adhesive was used, the resulting moisture and heat may be enough to break down the adhesive.
  • In instances where glue is not used, we have seen both peaked and swelled edges occur. All claims that are determined due to using inappropriate cleaning measures will be denied.
  • Pet urine should be cleaned off the floor immediately. If not removed in a timely manner, it may dull the surface of the floor due to the chemicals found in urine.
  • Liquid spills and any wet areas should also be cleaned in a timely manner. Waterproof vinyl flooring can be damp mopped with clean warm water and a diluted wood floor cleaner as needed. For laminate flooring, never leave any moisture on the floor and make sure it is completely dried to avoid warping as it is water-resistant, not waterproof.
  • Never use harsh chemicals or cleaners that are not meant for floors.
  • Do not use detergents or polishing “mop and shine” type of products. This may result in leaving a dull finish on your floor.
  • Furthermore, petroleum based products can stain the surface of your floor. These include ingredients found in asphalt driveway sealer and engine motor oil.
How to further avoid unnecessary damage:
  • Place floor protectors under heavy appliances or furniture pieces. Use wide-bearing, non-staining floor protectors such as felt protectors for the feet of heavy appliances or furniture.
  • Be cautious when moving large and heavy appliances or furniture. We recommend lifting, not dragging anything across the floor.
  • Furniture with castors or wheels should be taken into account for the possibility of damaging the floor. Castor wheels should be equipped with wide rubber castors. Do not roll around ball-type castors across your space as they can damage the floor or create track marks.
